Ready, steady, go!
The sprint president Rousseff has to make to survive the Olympic Games as President of Brazil has started by lightening the Olympic flame in Greece. How symbolic…
Her focus is now fully on preventing impeachment. Sadly the discussion is not about the Olympics and/or the economical situation of Brazil, but outrunning the corruption of the big boys she is playing with. This all despite she is not (yet) accused of personal corruption.
Most people consider ‘where there is smoke, there must be fire’, and she is allegedly involved in manipulating public accounts hiding her administration’s budget woes.
If it all continues like it is going now, she will follow Fernande Collor de Mello as second impeached president of Brazil.
Sadly there is no clear answer yet, and if (!) she will be forced to stop, there is no clear claim of someone following here being completely clean. Either way, in short term it won’t help the Zika issue, the problems that the Olympic Games bring and/or the tragic state of the economy. The only good thing is that people renewed their interests in politics. But the country is divided more than ever, making the only thing Brazil needs, a permanent and stable solution of this political mess, impossible.
We can only hope/pray that the Olympic Games bring some new united Brazil-feeling forgetting the political and mosquito issues for a few days; so that after these issues can be solved like sportsman.
